Depart at 10:00am, disembarkation from The NCL Jewel at Port Laem Chabang, met by our English-speaking guide and transfer by air-conditioned coach to the city of Bangkok. On the way, we will stop and visit an attraction outside the city (TBA) and have lunch.
Arrive in Bangkok in the afternoon and check in at Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Remainder of the day and evening are on your own.
Breakfast in the hotel this morning. Meet your guide in the hotel lobby at 8:30am and begin our full day sightseeing. Bangkok’s Buddhist temples are world famous and this tour takes us to three of the most unusual ones that this city has to offer. We start at the ornate Wat Trimitr which is situated at the end of buzzing Chinatown’s Yaowarat Road. This temple is home to a vast invaluable Golden Buddha that weighs five-and-half tons adding to this remarkable site. Next is the largest temple complex in Bangkok, Wat Po, which has an impressive Reclining Buddha that is 46 meters in length as well as ornate chedis. No temple tour is complete without a visit to the gleaming Grand Palace which is one of the most beautiful examples of a traditional Siamese Court. Previously the residence of royalty, there are a number of different venues for different occasions including the Funeral Palace, the Reception Palace, the Throne Hall, the Coronation Hall, the Royal Guest House and the famed Emerald Buddha Temple. Enjoy lunch at a riverside restaurant.
In the afternoon, we tour Pakklong Talaad, Bangkok’s biggest wholesale flower market that is an important trading hub which is open 24-hours a day. Next, we hop on a traditional boat to the former Bangkok capital of Thonburi which is situated just across the Chao Phraya River. This neighborhood is home to many klongs that acquired Bangkok the title ‘Venice of the East’. Here we glide through ancient canals in wooden boats to soak up scenic life along waterways. On the way, we stop at the National Museum of Royal Barges which is home to spectacular vessels used in state processions and also visit the magnificent Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn, which is adorned with lots of mosaic brightly colored pieces that can only be appreciated up close.
Returning to the hotel in the afternoon and evening is at your own leisure.
Early Breakfast in the hotel this morning. Join your guide this morning at 7:00am in hotel lobby for a half-day excursion to a Floating Market. Thailand’s floating markets hold cultural significance in the country with many tourists wanting to experience this tradition. Damnoen Saduak is dubbed as the ‘real floating market’ and is around 110 km west of Bangkok. A trip to this Thai phenomenon is like travelling back to the ancient times of the Siam Kingdom where colorful clad merchants paddle along the narrow canals. Here we witness the traditional ways of trading fruit, vegetables and other small items from small boats. There are also traditional Thai houses to view and we learn how boats are a vital mode of transport for locals in their everyday lives. This tour includes a visit to the famed Maeklong Railway where stalls are erected trackside and hastily moved as trains arrive.
Return to the hotel around noon. Remainder of the day and evening are free for your own leisure.
